"Not surprisingly, I'm inclined to favor the mordant sounds of Tom Waits, poet of things closing and of hopelessness, and certainly Erased is about things shutting down, as well as opening onto unexpected vistas. This cut also makes me think of a time back in my youth where one night during an open poetry workshop we were visited by an improbably scruffy (even compared to us), odd-sounding guy. He read his poem, and afterwards I opined that it was good, but maybe not quite complicated enough to stand alone. "Maybe you should try writing song lyrics," I told him. Waits looked me up and down, considering. "Well, man," he rasped. "I'm working on it." -Jim KrusoeSad news today. Am disappointed and angry and worried but mostly just sad to hear it. I have loved it, after all. They say everything happens for etc. Have to run to the meeting that seals this fate right here, for good.
New week and back from some motivational training that went completely in the wrong way. We were all thrown into a pitch dark room and had to scramble and grope our ways to exit. The whole thing was supposed to show you how you would handle a situation at work. I don't believe it revealed very much about me, personally, but I guess some people have revelations. I understand the need to use confrontational methods of training people, provoking them and everything, but I don't think it was necessary to make comments about someone's personal life or weight issues. Constructive criticism could be a little more pointed in it's aim, if the 'Wizard' really wanted to address someone's issues. Anyway DCMA said to learn something, so I tried to have fun since that always seems to work. I came out with the repeated knowledge that I need to be friendlier to people, and less selective about the people I speak to.
Had another one on Thursday and Friday that was brilliant in comparison. A full-blown Copywriter's training. Loved it and learned so much. We played some Taboo and did lines.
The week of training has officially, it's Monday and I have an internal review in two hours with a jumble of scripts and some half-done drawings Shady is freaking out over.
